Snapshot of Electric Vehicles in Nepal (Photos by Chin Cabrido)

For more than a decade now, SAFA tempos are still running the streets using old body design. Fully recharging the battery pack can take 4 to 6 hours.
The literal meaning of Safa in English is clean. Being operated from chargeable batteries, the name Safa tempo has been given to these three wheelers.
Currently a fleet of over 600 Safa Tempos ply on 13 routes in Kathmandu and are supported by 31 charging stations.

A day's work will earn a driver with about 2500 Nepali rupees, of which she keeps 500 (less than 10usd) home and the rest goes to the operator.

The Electric Vehicle (EV) sector has secured employment for women.
About 90-100 female are driving EV in Kathmandu valley.
